The systems that we previously considered best practices for managing teams simply no longer work. And continuing to use the old standard systems  will only result in more cynicism within the team, reduced motivation, and less dedication to the organization.

But there is hope. There are a handful of simple methods that lead to highly engaged and dedicated teams when leaders are committed to implementing them.

Research on the shifting nature of management best practices over the last 2 years has been compellingly clear: Employees now place greater value on the feeling of being seen, heard, and appreciated then any other factor in their work lives.

In a global survey, Boston Consulting Group (BCG) identified that the top four qualities reported by respondents to be the most important elements in their work lives were all related to emotional well-being. Respondents said they most want more recognition, coaching, listening, and caring from their leaders.

“No leader can ignore the need to do good.”

A recent survey by Gallup concluded that employee expectations at work have fundamentally changed, particularly since the onset of Covid-19. Jim Harter, Gallup’s chief scientist of workplace states: “It’s a real opportunity for organizations to figure out the next new normal.”

But what is the new normal? What are the expectations? And how do we as leaders reasonably meet those expectations?

Meeting the new workforce expectations is going to require a significant mindset shift from leaders.

I’ve referred to it as a shift from Compliance-based culture to a Co-creation based culture. 

And there are specific, actionable methods for nurturing a Co-creative culture. When these methods are embraced, they can quickly shift the dynamic with your team from apathy and low engagement to eagerness and enthusiasm.

Those methods are embodied in the 5 Roles of a Facilitator:

The Includer, Time Tracker, Coordinator, Cheerleader, and Reviewer. 

In this course, we'll be exploring the high impact behaviors associated with each role. You'll learn why the behaviors work and the mistakes to avoid.

In the 30 plus years of working as a facilitator, I've found using this framework to be the most effective way to bring about rapid and lasting change in teams.

Whether you're a seasoned leader, not in an official leadership role, or anyone looking to make your group interactions more efficient, this course is design to provide skills you can apply immediately to support your team's growth.

Most work groups do not have the skills imbedded within the team to make their interactions (ie. team meetings) as productive, energizing, and rewarding as they could be. Most teams and most team leaders struggle to create any kind of forward momentum because there is either a lack of enthusiasm, or there are personal dynamics that cause annoying conflicts, or both.

There are methods for overcoming these challenges. It's work that I've been doing for over 35 years and I want to share what I've learned.

This course contains the skills necessary to implement 5 methods for encouraging and supporting team engagement.

You will learn practical and proven facilitation techniques that foster high enthusiasm for the work within any team. Over the past 30 years of facilitating successful team process, I've identified that there are 5 primary behaviors that support any team becoming highly engaged, motivated, and effective.

We'll be going deep into the nuances and specifics of each one of the 5 techniques:

What makes each technique different from the default behavior of most people.

Why the technique works within our work teams and why it is effective in non-work settings.

How to implement the technique effectively in different social situations to support the outcome your looking for. 

Deeply understanding the "5 Roles of a Facilitator" and using the techniques will help you lead with confidence, develop a highly engaged team, and make a real impact in your professional life.

This course will consist of 5 online live group classes. There will be 2 classes per month, held every other week on Zoom.

Each class will be recorded and accessible for review.

Each class will be limited to a maximum of 6 participants and 3 facilitators to ensure everyone has an opportunity to receive the support necessary to meet their specific situation.

In addition, you'll also receive 2 personal coaching sessions with Joan to ensure that the skills you learn in the course are effectively implemented with your unique team situation. These 1-on-1 sessions can be scheduled at your convenience.
